Dupre and Lord British
A very charming video was posted on the Shroud of the Avatar Facebook page today, featuring an interview between Richard Garriott and Greg Dykes (or, as we know them, Lord British and Dupre):
As the Portalarium social team explain:
Now, I have to raise an issue with the footage; Richard Garriott asserts that nobody has yet picked up on the “ducks” joke in the Gypsy Camp gameplay footage. Which…okay, I guess the little “Also: ducks!” reference I added to the end of the video’s description was maybe a bit too subtle. So instead, let me present as evidence this thread on the Shroud of the Avatar forums, in which the duck joke is both referenced and explained.
Anyhow, another great video; it’s fun to watch these two old, old friends commiserate and recall old memories. Would Greg Dykes like to play a role in the new game? “Uh…sure,” he says. So expect to see Dupre (or someone similar) somewhere in the game. Count on it, in fact.
Update: There is — or was — a child in Madison, Wisconsin, who (as Greg Dykes tells it) was after his character. He had the opportunity to meet the parents and hold the little tyke — whose middle name was, indeed, Dupre — shortly after the child’s birth. If you are that child, or if you know who Greg Dykes is talking about, Portalarium would like to get in touch.
